Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is critical to have enabled on the services we use as it means that malicious users cannot login with only a users stolen password, as they need a secure login as well, such as the code from Microsoft Authenticator.

This is especially important given some of the data we interact with as a school, and we must do all we can to protect that data, hence why we are rolling out MFA through Microsoft logins.

To begin, make sure you have the Microsoft Authenticator installed, this is the same app used to authenticate on CPOMS and RDS.

If you don't have this installed, please look at this guide to get started -

When MFA is enabled on your account, you will be greeted by the following screen when trying to login on a Microsoft platform. Simply select Next and move onto the verification setup.

On the next page, we will select the option 'Mobile App' and select the box under called 'Receive notifications for Verification'
then click the button below 'Set up'

We will be shown the configuration page. Here we need to load the Microsoft Authenticator app on our mobile device, click the plus and the top right and add a 'Work or school account' then select 'Scan QR Code' (If unable to scan the QR, try add the account again and instead use the code provided below the QR code)

After this has been setup, you will be taken back to the previous page where you can now select 'Next' on the bottom right, this will now try to verify your account and require you to approve on the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.

After you have successfully done this, you will be asked to provide your mobile number as a backup. Just select the region United Kingdom from the dropdown box and type out the rest of your mobile number.

From here you can select 'Next' and then 'Done'

When you log into services that use Microsoft, such as your login on Arbor, you will be prompted for the Authentication on your mobile device.
