Some files will not open if there isn't a default application setup for the file to be launched on. Below i will go through a simple way to checked if the file type has a default application setup.
Firstly, open up the start menu and search for 'Default apps'
Opening this will bring you into the settings where you will be able to view and set the default apps. To check the specific file type that isn't launching, we will need to select the option near the bottom called 'Choose default apps by file type'
When on this next page, you will need to find the file type that wont launch on the left of the page, do this by scrolling down the page until you find the correct one, for example, here i have found .png
From here, just click on the option 'Choose a default' and select the option 'Photos' If not available, there are normally other viable options you can select.
After selecting this, you should now be able to launch the file you wanted to view.
