On the start menu go to "Smart" and then open "Smart Ink Settings"

Under General Settings make sure "Start Smart Ink when you log on" is checked

Under Microsoft Office Settings under the heading "In Microsoft Edit Mode" make sure "Use SMART Ink" is ticked rather than "Use Microsoft Ink"

Make sure "Enable the SMART PowerPoint plug-in" is ticked.

Click "Apply" and then "Ok"
